ACRITAS: Space Technologies for Surveillance and Monitoring Integrated Applications
Project Summary
The ACRITAS project aims at the research, design, development and validation of space-based integrated applications for surveillance and monitoring through advanced multi-sensor data fusion technologies. Special emphasis is put on the integrated use of space-related technologies (i.e., Earth Observation (GMES), Satellite Communications (SatCom), and Satellite Navigation (GNSS)), and their fusion with available terrestrial in-situ assets for key application domains, such as: Border Surveillance, Critical Energy Infrastructure Monitoring, Coastal Environmental Monitoring, and Agricultural Monitoring.
Notably, ACRITAS pursues optimization of available resources by putting special emphasis on the development and advancement of space-based assets while exploiting existing terrestrial in-situ assets and facilities available within the consortium and/or to be brought-in from the involved end users (e.g., software tools, terrestrial cameras, in-situ data, other sensors, etc). In this regard, albeit the ambitious nature of the addressed ACRITAS scope and S&T objectives, the related experience and facilities available within its consortium constitute a solid background and ensure the ACRITAS technical leadership.
Overall, ACRITAS aims to boost the S&T know-how and expertise of its partners in space technologies and applications as well as to provide them with significant commercial exploitation opportunities.
The ACRITAS project sets up a well-balanced collection of partners (7 Enterprises as Full Partners; 2 Enterprises + 3 Research Institutes as Subcontractors), each one bringing in its own expertise and altogether complementing each other in a way that guarantees the successful project completion and technical leadership.
Terra Spatium is the Technical Coordinator, responsible for coordinating the project’s technical work in order to ensure accomplishment of the technical objectives and to progress supervision of the project’s technical part. Terra Spatium convene and lead technical meetings, report on the project’s technical progress, and coordinate the production of technical deliverables.
