The service through, extensive Geo-processing capabilities, identifies vulnerable areas along the land border lines, and provides up-to-date, accurate and tailored-made intelligence maps. It is based on data from very high to high resolution, depending on client's requirements and aims to: reduce unauthorized border crossings, counter cross-border criminality and increase internal security. Border permeability mapping is performed using manual spatial analysis between different layers of information. Satellite optical and radar data, existing map and elevation data, and also in-situ data often -but not exclusively- provided by end users, are used as service input. The type of input data depends on the area to be assessed; low resolution for regional and country level and high resolution for local level. It is often combined with change detection service. Expected Benefits:
Regular updating of topographic maps used for wide open area monitoring.
Improving terrain knowledge especially for very large areas and allowing border.
Guards to get a better view on its current position and surroundings.
Detection of new routes crossing the borders or -in the potential crisis situation- of camps filled with potential illegal immigrants on the other side of the border.
Harmonization of cross border data through sensitively mapping both side of the entire border area thereby improving logistics during an emergency.
EO data: High resolution, i.e. SPOT, Sentinel-2 and Very high resolution, i.e. Pleiades, Worldview. Geospatial data: DTM, land cover, hydrology networks, transportation networks, infrastructures, populated areas etc Temporal Recurrence: twice or four times per year depending on client request. Spatial extend: based on client request.
